Another new publication from Merryman - Les petites mains.
This adds to our other new publications Chantons en choeur!, Viens Jouer! and Dans la poche.
Every month Merryman provides on its web site an activity for teachers to use with their Primary School French classes. Follow the activity link to get this month's item.

La Semaine du Goût 13th – 19th Octobre

In 1990 La Journée du Goût was introduced in Paris and 350 chefs went into schools to teach young children about food and cooking. In 1992 the day was extended to a week, La Semaine du Goût. Thousands of chefs now go into schools throughout France, teaching children about the food they eat and how to cook and present it. Primary language teachers in Britain may find it useful to use this celebration of food to focus on aspects of French culture to which young language learners can relate. Why not have a tasting session of brioche, pain au chocolat, une galette, French cheese, fruit grown in France, une baguette or un croissant, for example? Ask children to express an opinion. Do they like the food they are tasting? Can they describe its shape and colour or recognise and name a food item from simple description in French? For information (in French) teachers may wish to visit the web site www.legout.com/home.php. This site is accessible to teachers able to read French at an intermediate level.

Merryman has enhanced its popular Primary French Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans by the addition of a one year SOW with Lesson Plans for children aged 5 and 6 years old. This new Scheme of Work and Lesson Plans as well as the existing four year course for Primary French for Primary Years 3 to 6 are available from our free download page.
